What is Urgent Care?

Urgent care is the delivery of ambulatory medical care outside of a hospital emergency department that is offered to the public on an unscheduled, convenient walk-in basis. Urgent care centers are primarily used to treat patients who have an injury or illness that requires time-sensitive care but is not serious enough to warrant a visit to an emergency room. Better Faster Urgent Care provides immediate care for acute, non-life threatening illnesses and injury; all of which is provided by board certified emergency physician specialists. Better Faster Urgent Care provides care for the simplest to the more complex medical conditions, and Better Faster Urgent Care has become a critical component in our community’s health care network. We coordinate our care between primary care physicians and pediatricians, outpatient imaging centers, hospital emergency departments and physician specialists creating a network of care options for you that puts you in the right hands at the right time.

By staffing Better Faster Urgent Care with experienced emergency medicine personnel, we can handle a wide spectrum of medical conditions that overlap with office based, as well as emergency department care. Primary care is essential for monitoring and treatment of chronic conditions, maintaining wellness and modifying risk factors. But access to illness or injury evaluation and treatment is limited, and in most cases by appointment only…at a time convenient to them, not to you. And many conditions are just too acute for management in a primary care office setting.

Do you take my insurance?

We are a participating providers with most major insurance plans, however, if your insurance carrier isn’t listed, please call us and we can confirm by phone. In the event that we do not participate with your health insurance plan, we can provide you with the proper medical documentation of your visit to submit your claim directly to your US based insurance carrier. We will be adding insurance plans to our list as patient participation demands. At this time we are currently not accepting Medicaid.

What are your payment policies and what payment method do you accept?

We will submit claims to those insurance companies that we participate with on your behalf for payment. Co-payments are due at the time of your visit. Any claims that are unpaid by your insurer are ultimately your responsibility. We accept cash, credit card and debit cards.

What if I don’t have insurance?

For those without healthcare insurance, we offer a reasonably priced alternative for obtaining unscheduled medical care. We will provide appropriate and honest care while keeping you informed of all treatment options and costs. The out of pocket cost of our services will be comparable to office visits but much less than emergency department fees for equivalent treatment.

What should I bring with me when I come to Better Faster Urgent Care?

Please bring your current insurance card, driver’s license, or photo ID along with any important medical information. Also be prepared to let our staff know your medical history, current medications and medication allergies.

Do I need an appointment to be seen?

No…we are a walk in facility with no appointments necessary. We make our service available on your schedule, not ours!!

What if I need a referral to a Specialist?

For medical problems requiring specialty follow up care, we will refer and assist you in accessing needed follow up with local specialists that we know and trust. If you have received prior specialty care we will coordinate follow up with that physician, send them pertinent medical records and test results and provide you with your digital x-rays on CD if needed. Most common examples of these referrals include: orthopedics, ophthalmology, surgery, ENT, dermatology and OB/Gyn.

When should I go to the Emergency Room?

Our facility is owned and operated by a Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physician and staffed with highly trained Emergency Medicine personnel. At Better Faster Urgent Care we provide medical treatment for conditions of severity requiring timely evaluation but not needing the emergent comprehensive services of a hospital based Emergency Department. Our services page gives a basic overview of what types of medical conditions we treat.

The appropriate place for anyone with potentially life threatening symptoms is in a hospital. If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, immediately get yourself to a hospital emergency department, or call 911 if you feel your situation requires:

  • Severe Chest Pain
  • Severe shortness of breath
  • Weakness, numbness or slurred speech
  • Severe headache
  • Serious trauma
  • Complications of pregnancy
  • Severe Abdominal pain

At Better Faster Urgent Care, we will do our best to take care of any medical problem you have, as we have the capability and training to care for most problems. However, patients who are found to have unstable medical conditions or conditions which require hospitalization will be transferred to an emergency department for their safety…as your safety is our number one priority!

We coordinate that transfer, contact the ER directly, and send your medical record and test results to the receiving facility. Better Faster Urgent Care will utilize Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transportation via 911 in medical situations that we deem to be unstable and life threatening.
