Kristina attended the University of Texas at Austin before transferring to the University of Texas at Arlington, where she graduated Summa cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. While in college, Kristina was involved with the Best Buddies program at UT Austin, was a home health aid for the elderly and worked at a communal home for the mentally challenged. She assisted with Genetics Research at the UT Arlington Genetics Lab and was a Genetics tutor. She was accepted to one of the most prestigious medical programs in the country, the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School where she met Alan.
During Medical School, Kristina was a tutor at an after-school program in a subsidized apartment complex in Dallas, TX. She also completed an Internal Medicine Preceptorship in 2002. She graduated from UT Southwestern with her Medical Degree (MD) in 2005 and was accepted as a resident physician of Emergency Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia.
Kristina completed her Emergency Medicine residency in 2008, having her first child Cosette along the way. Having a baby during a medical residency is no easy task! After completing her residency, Kristina spent the next few years raising her children and doctoring them at home. During this time she was licensed as a Designated Doctor by the Texas Department of Insurance and performed Designated Doctor exams as a consultant for the state.
Kristina is the proud mother of three beautiful children, Cosette, Reef, and Scout. She puts up with Alan on a daily basis.
